Query: Is work useful/necessary or just an outcropping of the most dominant mode of economic hegemony, capitalism?

"In effect, work is the largest self-regulation system the universe has so far manufactured, subjecting each of us to a panopticon under which we dare not do anything but work, or at least seem to be working, lest we fall prey to a disapproval all the more powerful for its obscurity...When we submit to work, we are guard and guarded at once." From the Wage Slave's Glossary by Joshua Glenn

What not to Wear

From a forty three page dress code given to employees of a Swiss bank UBS last year.

In general, a blouse is worn with a jacket.

When it gets very hot and you have received approval from your immediate supervisor, you may wear just a blouse with pants or a skirt.

The scarf must always be folded and tied with the knot oriented not down, but, as much as possible, up and to the left.

The wearing of ultra-trendy glasses is not allowed. Also see to it that your jewelry matches the metallic color of your frames.

A man who wears a watch conveys reliability and a great concern for punctuality.

Light day makeup composed of foundation, mascara, and discreet lipstick goes well with the dress code and will highlight your personality.

Studies have shown that a stylish, immaculate haircut considerably raises individuals' likability.

I'll definitely be applying for a job with this bank. I'm glad to know that wearing a watch with a nice new haircut will make me look dependable and increase my likability a ton. Nothing nebulous about terms like immaculate, stylish, or sexist about telling someone to wear lipstick. Work is awesome!

Turnscape web comments in response to Action Comics 900
In the comic Superman attends a nonviolent protest in Tehran but becomes concerned that the Iranian government will misconstrue his presence as an endorsement by the U.S. Therefore, he says that he'll speak before the United Nations the next day and renounce his citizenship.

Isn't Superman an illegal alien anyway?

Hopefully when he sees how well the walking and protesting work out, he'll quit being such a bit-h and go back to being Superman.

Not so fast Superman there is an eighteen month waitlist to renounce one's U.S. citizenship.

The U.N. is a joke anyway. He should have picked a better forum for his announcement.

Sad. Superman was kinda a lame superhero, though.

My son will never read a communist comic traitor rag from these scum again. NEVER. This is an outrage. This is the enemy within. This is a coordinated assault on deconstructing the U.S.A. and replacing it with banking cabals, oligarchical collectivism, and a globalist NWO.

Let's look at it this way: Clark Kent is the real American citizen. Superman is a corporate entity owned by Clark Kent. The privately owned entity that is Superman should, according to all the rules of corporate persohood (thank you Supreme Court), not be expected to act in the interest of the U.S. but only those private interests of its owner. Just like GM shouldn't be expected to keep its factories here, you know?

For the first time in my life, Superman has let me down.

Superman is still only a cartoon, right?

Ah, discourse. And no, work is probably not necessary but more an outgrowth of a capitalist society, which then makes it necessary.

  1. the key words are "swiss bank"- which of course means that they are handling funds from many
individuals and corporations from other countries-i.e., dictators, terrorists,
    ponzi schemes, etc
so the employees must not offend any of these wonderful depositors and never ask why!

as to superman-it seems that every super hero
has been in a movie in the past 5 years, but
superman was first and always will be
up, up, and away (from the u.s.)
